Swine Flu Cleaning If you think you have flu like symptoms please first telephone your doctor or go to the NHS symptom checker

People should not come to work if:
  • they have a confirmed case of swine flu;
  • they are being investigated for possible swine flu;
  • they have flu symptoms and a case has been confirmed in the workplace

In this instance please telephone your manager or supervisor or failing this please telephone the head office on immediately and inform them of your situation. Failure to report your illness or turning up at work with swine flu will result in disciplinary action.

If you have a family member who has swine flu & you need to care for them or you have a problem with transport in getting to work as a result of swine flu, in this instance Crime Scene Cleaning is willing to be flexible with working hours. In such a case please telephone your manager or supervisor of your intentions.

General advice
  • Those being investigated for possible swine flu are given anti viral medication and are asked to stay at home until the test results are available.
  • Close contacts of probable or confirmed cases are given anti viral medication as a precautionary measure, but can carry on with their normal routine unless they develop flu symptoms.
  • Those who have had contact with probable or confirmed cases in a social or community setting, but do not have flu symptoms, do not need to be excluded from the workplace. They can carry on with their normal routine.

Good hygiene
Preventing the spread of germs is the single most effective way to slow the spread of diseases such as swine flu.

You should always:
  • Wear gloves when cleaning
  • If you are working in high risk area’s such as crime scenes or health establishments always wear a FFP3 mask.
  • Ensure everyone washes their hands regularly with soap and water
  • Clean surfaces regularly to get rid of germs
  • Use tissues to cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze
  • Place used tissues in a bin as soon as possible
